Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. They carry out scientific research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and ensure their findings are used to improve the lives of all cancer patients. Cancer Research UK help people to understand cancer by providing life-changing information to patients, their families and friends. They run cancer awareness campaigns to help people reduce their risk of the disease.

Thanks to research and improvements in the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer:

• Survival rates have improved for nearly all cancers

• The overall death rate for cancer has fallen by 11% in the last ten years

• Seven out of ten children with cancer can now be cured

• Breast cancer death rates have fallen by a fifth in the last ten years

• Over 95% of men with testicular cancer are now cured
